Essential Skills are the core skills needed for learning technical skills and working safely. These are the skills that more and more companies are enhancing to maintain their competitive edge.
All nine Essential Skills are used in different combinations and are transferable to every occupation. They are the skills used to carry out work tasks and they are the building blocks used in learning new skills.

ADDRESSING WORKPLACE CHALLENGES
The Workplace Essential Skills training program can be customized into a one or two week program that includes face to face classroom learning with strategies on understanding various workplace documents, identifying keywords, and skimming and scanning techniques. The curriculum also includes computer online learning to assist learners who are looking to move from Essential Skills levels 1,2 or low level 3. The training is coordinated by an experienced Essential Skills facilitator. This program is designed specifically to address workplace challenges for the unemployed, employed or individual who is wanting to advance in the workplace.
